Tips for Identity Theft Prevention

There are lots of simple ways to prevent identity theft. First, shred all of your mail. Shredders are inexpensive and a great way to keep dumpster divers from grabbing your information. Second, keep your phone number unlisted. When people call your house, they may have your number but often don't have your name. Callers will use subtle tactics to get your name. Don't give it up. Third, ask your Doctor, employer, and bank about their privacy policy and the protection they take with your information. Make note of what the file looks like when you visit your Doctor and where it is stored. Is it near a door? Does the Doctor have a camera system on the files to identify a perpetrator? How easy is it to grab a file and walk out the door? Same for your bank. remember, any bank employee can get your critical information in seconds with very little information. Protect yourself with the right coverage in the event of a breach.

Seniors are vulnerable

Are you in your retirement years? Perhaps you have a parent, friend or loved one in this age bracket. Have you ever noticed how much mail and marketing is focused on seniors? Seniors tend to have money, are less informed about consumer pitfalls, and more likely to purchase something they don't need.

A big problem for seniors is that they are older and so is their information. Past employment, old tax returns, medical records, schools, and other organizations hold critical information that can lead to identity theft.

The right identity protection plan will help you guard against fraud and protect your hard earned credit and assets.

Protect your Children from Identity Theft

Your family is at risk. Children, college age students, spouses and elderly parents are all in need of the right protection. Don't ignore the trends that will soon show one in ten Americans as victims of identity theft. Be certain, you will spend hours and hours restoring your credit and good name with no guarantee of success. The credit bureaus are not consumer friendly and do not have to make any changes until they are ready.

Social networking, schools, athletic associations, camps, and medical facilities are just some of the places where your children's information is stored. Medical identity theft is the fastest growing from of identity theft. You won't know if your child's information was used to fraudulently fund someone else until the hospital calls looking for your share of the bill. The hospital doesn't care that you were compromised. They will put you in collection and take your assets. Medical debts are a leading cause of bankruptcy in the US and abroad.

Protect Your Assets

Your credit, cash, reputation, home, career, and hard earned equity is at risk and you can't see the enemy lying in the weeds. Identity theft effects 9 million Americans a year. You can continue to live your life and think that it only happens to the other people, however, when you discover that your identity has been compromised, you will soon know why it is of paramount importance to have the right identity protection plan.

Would you buy a home without insurance, would you drive a car without insurance (some would unfortunately but you shouldn't) of course not. Why not insure your assets with a safe identity protection plan?

Make sure your plan provides monitoring, strong relationships with all of the credit bureaus, guarantees that your credit will be restored and that fraudulent debts are expunged, and that all you have to do is call one number.
